It was raining in the Denali National Park today. Let me repeat that. It was raining in the Denali National Park today. I mean it was raining. So, we canceled our plans to climb Mount Healy. Even if we'd made it there was nothing to see from inside the cloud that embraced the mountain.
Nevertheless, we donned our rain jackets, pulled on the boots and hiked through the widlerness rain and all. (A couple of pictures below.)
There was one really great moment. The two granddaughters and I were driving back from the hiking toward our little cottage. It was a moment of beauty, not just the beauty of nature that surrounded us, but the beauty of our voices as we sang with Norah Jones in "Come Away With Me." I have to tell you, somehow, Norah held her own.
Here's a couple of pictures:
First this one from yesterday. Nine years ago I brought Ansley to Alaska when she was five. I have a picture of her then sitting on this very tree in the exact spot. Can't wait to get home and see them side by side.
Ansley and Faith hiking through the forest in Denali.
Faith didn't fall into this stream like she fell into one yesterday.
Looks like abundant blessings on your journey - may they continue.
